Privacy policy

Effective September 21, 2026. This policy covers yourlifeahead.com and the Your Life Ahead newsletter. Your Life Ahead is responsible for the information it collects through these services. For privacy questions or requests, use our contact form and select “Privacy request.”

Information we collect

• Newsletter signup: your email address, subscription and confirmation status, the form you used, and any guide you requested. When available, we also receive campaign tags and the path of the page where your visit began.
• Contact requests: the name you choose to provide, your email address, topic, and message.
• Service information: our hosting and newsletter providers process technical information needed to deliver and protect their services, such as IP addresses, browser information, request times, and delivery or error records.
• Email engagement: our newsletter provider may record delivery, opens, and link clicks through email tracking technologies. These signals are imperfect and may be affected by your email software.

Please do not send passwords, account numbers, health records, government identifiers, or other sensitive information through our forms. The checklist is for your own use; we do not collect your answers.

How we use information

We use signup information to manage subscriptions, send requested emails, provide resources, understand which signup pages and campaigns are useful, and prevent abuse. We use contact information to respond to your request and keep a record of its resolution. A contact-form submission does not subscribe you to the newsletter.

Browser storage and tracking

The website uses session storage to remember campaign tags and the landing-page path during a browser-tab session. It does not copy arbitrary URL parameters into that path. You can clear browser storage or disable it; newsletter signup still works without stored attribution. When Analytics is enabled, we load Google Analytics to measure page visits, article views, resource downloads, navigation, and accepted signup submissions. Google receives technical information such as your IP address and browser information and uses analytics cookies. We do not send email addresses, contact messages, checklist answers, or arbitrary URL query parameters to Analytics. Accepted signup submissions are not the same as confirmed subscriptions. For readers who explicitly save Analytics as enabled in Your Privacy Choices, we also link a browser analytics identifier and a temporary consent reference to the subscription record so we can report a confirmed signup to Google after email confirmation. This link is eligible for up to seven days; your email address is never included in the Analytics event. Changing Your Privacy Choices sends a request to stop pending confirmation tracking for this browser; if you are offline, the request retries when you return or reconnect. Google advertising personalization is disabled.

For visitors identified as being in the United States, Analytics is enabled by default unless you have opted out or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. Outside the United States, or when country detection fails, it stays off until you enable it. Previously saved rejections remain in effect. Regional defaults are not saved as explicit permission; we remember choices you make in local storage. Use “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer to change it; declining stops website analytics and removes its first-party cookies. You can continue reading and subscribing without analytics. Google Analytics cookies expire after up to six months, renewed with activity.

When Marketing cookies are enabled, we use Meta Pixel on the newsletter and checklist signup pages to measure Facebook and Instagram ads. Meta receives page visits, accepted signup events, browser and network information, eligible page/referrer URLs and campaign tags, and cookie or ad-click identifiers. Meta may associate this activity with your Meta account and use it for advertising measurement and personalization. We disable automatic event collection and advanced matching in our integration and do not send your email address, form contents, checklist answers, or article interests. An accepted form event is not a confirmed new subscription. We do not send server-side confirmation events to Meta.

For visitors identified as being in the United States, Marketing cookies are enabled by default unless you have opted out or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. Our host supplies the country determination; we do not store precise location for this choice. For visitors outside the United States, or when we cannot determine the country, Marketing stays off until separately enabled. We preserve previously saved rejections. Global Privacy Control keeps Analytics and Marketing off in every region. Use “Opt out of ad tracking” beside a signup form or “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer, then turn off Marketing to opt out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We remember your choice in this browser and clear our first-party Meta cookies when you opt out. Opening or closing privacy controls does not change your preferences. Choices apply to this browser; clearing storage or using another browser may require choosing again. This stops future tracking from this browser but does not delete events already received by Meta. Meta cookies may last up to three months and renew with activity. See Meta’s privacy policy for its handling of data.

Email tracking and provider-hosted pages operate separately from the website's session storage. We will update this policy if our practices change.

Providers and disclosure

When Analytics is enabled, we also use Google Analytics to understand website use. See how Google uses information from partner sites.

We use Netlify to host the site, process contact forms, and run the signup endpoint, and beehiiv to manage subscribers and email delivery. These providers process information to operate their services. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where the providers operate.

We do not sell subscriber lists. When Marketing is enabled, sharing with Meta may constitute sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising under some privacy laws. Turn off Marketing in “Your Privacy Choices” or use Global Privacy Control to opt out. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to address fraud, protect our services, or respond to a valid legal request. Links to other websites are governed by those sites' own practices.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the relevant service, respond to requests, protect against misuse, and meet applicable obligations. Unsubscribing stops newsletter delivery but may leave a suppression record so we can honor your choice. Deletion requests are reviewed separately. Provider backups and technical logs may follow their own retention cycles.

We use HTTPS and restrict access to service credentials. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and requests

Use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter to stop receiving it. To request access, correction, or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern, use our contact form. Describe your request without including sensitive documents. We may need to verify that a request relates to your information before acting on it.

Your rights depend on where you live and which laws apply. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law. This policy does not limit rights you may have under those laws.

Children and updates

Our publication is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it. We will post policy changes here with an updated effective date.
